Lawrence T. King

Senior Partner

Larry was recently recognized by Super Lawyers ® as one of the Top 50 lawyers in the entire state – for the third consecutive year. According to Super Lawyers’ website, “Super Lawyers selects attorneys using a rigorous, multiphase rating process. Peer nominations and evaluations are combined with third party research. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Selections are made on an annual, state-by-state basis.” Less than 5% of Alabama’s 16,000+ lawyers were selected. This humbling recognition followed shortly after having been selected on the vote of other lawyers as a “Top Lawyer” or several consecutive years as published by Birmingham magazineas well as b-Metro Magazine. In fact, 2016 marks the ninth consecutive year that Larry has been chosen for the distinction of being a Super Lawyer (r).

Karen Berhow.jpg

Karen Berhow

Associate

Karen Berhow knew at an early age that she would one day practice law in Birmingham, the city in which she was born and raised. In 2003, Karen became the first attorney in her family, and since then she has worked diligently to establish herself as a genuine client advocate. Throughout her years of practice, Karen’s calm yet confident demeanor and vast courtroom experience have proven beneficial to her clients time and time again.

Karen practices in the areas of workers’ compensation, employment litigation, and litigation involving insurance companies.  She practiced litigation and corporate law in Birmingham for 17 years, where she represented numerous corporations and municipalities. Karen successfully defended clients at the trial court level and obtained numerous victories on behalf of clients in both tort and workers’ compensation cases; she has also successfully handled appeals to both the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals and the Alabama Supreme Court. And now she brings her talent to serve the people of our state.

Karen is frequently asked to speak at workers’ compensation and tort conferences, with expertise in topics ranging from settlement negotiation tactics, workers’ compensation trials, and settlement matters and ethics. She also regularly advises clients, as well as provides lectures and written materials to both clients and fellow attorneys, on legal issues involving Medicare and continually evolving practice of using Medicare Set-Asides in workers’ compensation and tort cases. For overall excellence, she has achieved a ranking of AV Preeminent from Martindale-Hubbell.

Away from the office, Karen enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband, Jon, and her young daughter, Kate. In the community, Karen serves on the Neurosurgery Women’s Leadership Council at UAB, where she serves for two years as President, and regularly volunteers at her daughter’s school. She is also an active member of the Church of the Highlands.

Karen earned her B.A., magna cum laude, with a double major in English and Political Science, from The University of Alabama and her J.D., cum laude, from The University of Alabama School of Law.

Danielle Ingram 2_edited.png

Danielle Ingram

Associate

Danielle Ingram is a Tennessee native and the first of her family to become an attorney. Before joining King Simmons, she lived in Montgomery, AL and worked in Beasley Allen’s Toxic Torts section. She represented clients in a variety of complex civil matters—centering on toxic exposure, mass torts, and products liability—including national Roundup and 3M Earplug litigation. She also helped represent individual clients with severe injuries from exploding consumer products.

Mrs. Ingram earned her law degree from Faulkner University’s Thomas Goode Jones School of Law. She clerked in Beasley Allen’s personal injury section where she assisted attorneys in the areas of personal injury and product liability, and for the Honorable John E. Enslen in Elmore County, AL, where she assisted in probate matters. She was also recognized as an Eagle Scholar, received top paper in Advanced Legal Analysis, and was named a competitor in the annual J. Greg Allen Mock Trial Competition.

Mrs. Ingram was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 2019 and moved to Fairhope, Alabama in 2021 with her husband and two sons—Alexander and Anson—to be closer to the coast. Her husband, Ivan Ingram, is also an attorney. Danielle enjoys running, hiking, cooking, and going to the beach on weekends with her family. They are members at St. James Episcopal Church in Fairhope.

Mrs. Ingram is a member of the Baldwin County State Bar Association, the Mobile Bar Association, the State Bar Young Lawyer’s Section, and State Bar Women’s Section

Kris D. Burbank

Associate

Kris D. Burbank is a native New England/New Yorker, but has lived for over 20 years in Birmingham. Mr. Burbank graduated from the State University of New York at Oneonta (B.A. Dietetics, 1997), then interned at Yale New Haven Hospital. In 2002 he left his position as a renal dietitian in Burlington, Vermont, and arrived in Birmingham where he attended the Birmingham School of Law (J.D., 2005). After graduating law school, he practiced with the insurance defense firm with whom he had clerked throughout law school, eventually “switching sides” to focus on representing injury victims in 2008.

With more than 15 years of experience in handling worker’s compensation cases, Mr. Burbank has provided solid advice and wise counsel to individuals and companies alike. He has significant experience and focus on assisting injured workers through the unfair and inequitable legal minefield that is the Alabama Workers' Compensation Act. Mr. Burbank has also handled a variety of personal injury claims, social security disability/SSI claims, collections cases, and has served as a Guardian Ad Litem for children in a non-profit setting. Known by the insurance industry and its lawyers as a strong advocate for his clients, regardless of their background, Mr. Burbank holds firm in his belief that the best way to spend our time on this earth is in service to others.

Away from the office, Kris enjoys spending time with his fiancé, Emily, a practicing divorce attorney, and their two rescued Himalayan cats. Among his favorite pastimes are rooting for all Boston sports, and pulling for Penn State's football team, all of which spark lively conversation at work!
